The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him,
the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own,
but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him,
to those who believed in his name,
he gave the right to become children of God. - John 1:9-12

Our passage today tells us the “world did not recognize Him.” How could this be?
He created the world and everything in it. He created each child born into this
world from the time of Adam and Eve. God gave us His Word, the Bible, so we
would recognize Jesus and know that He loves us enough to save us from our sin.
God sent His only Son, Jesus, to be the Light in the world. Many did not receive
Him, but for those who believe in Jesus, He gave them the right to become children
of God!
We are anticipating the gift of life in our yet to be named grandson. It’s hard to
describe just how much we love him already. Our prayer for you this Christmas
season is that you experience the love, joy and anticipation of the arrival of our
Savior and Lord.

Jesus is the Messiah! Be among those who recognize Him.
God is offering you the right to become a child of God!
This is the greatest joy you will ever know!

Prayer: May our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus, the Savior of the World, be
our focus this Christmas! May the gifts we give each other, particularly to those in
need, represent the love that Jesus has for each of us. Father, we know in addition
to your Son, Jesus our Savior, you also sent the gift of the Holy Spirit to be with us,
to guide and comfort us. May it be that all Christians, glorify you with their lives
as obedient children. Amen.
