“The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch,
a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.
In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety.
This is the name by which he will be called:
The Lord Our Righteous Savior.” –Jeremiah 23:5-6

God’s Vision was revealed by prophet Jeremiah around 600 BC – SO MANY
YEARS BEFORE Christ was born!
Jeremiah presented this poetry to Judah before 586 BC when Jerusalem was
destroyed by Babylon. This was HOPE for a failing nation. David’s seed, a
righteous Branch will reign wisely (doing justice); Judah will be saved; Israel will
live in safety; Jesus will be the Lord, Our Righteousness: SPIRITUOUSLY, not
politically (As the Jews expected their Messiah to be).
“The Lord Our Righteousness” is stated by Saint Paul in Romans: “A
Righteousness” is stated by Saint Paul in Romans: “A Righteousness from God,
apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who
believe.” (Romans 3:21-22). Paul speaks of our salvation following Christ’s
resurrection.
Jeremiah 23:7-8 goes on to predict “The days are coming” to bring Israelites from
all counties to “live in their own land”. What amazing prophesies God has given us
all! Hold on to God’s promises as you celebrate Christmas this year!
