Advent: Jesus the Messiah
Welcome to the Advent season—a time to reflect deeply on the identity and mission of Jesus Christ as our Messiah. As we journey through these sacred weeks of advent together, let us turn our attention to the unfolding story of the One who was promised, the One who has come, and the One who will come again.
“Advent” comes from the Latin adventus, meaning “arrival” or “coming.” For centuries, Christians have used this season to prepare their hearts for the celebration of Christ’s first coming in Bethlehem and to look forward with hope to His glorious return. This year, our focus will be on Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies—the promised Messiah who came to redeem, restore, and reign.
Throughout the four weeks of Advent, we will reflect on key themes that reveal Jesus’ identity and mission:
Each devotional will guide you through scripture, prayers, and reflections that highlight Jesus as the anointed Savior, the King of kings, and the One who brings ultimate redemption to a broken world.
In the busyness of this season, I invite you to pause and marvel at the Messiah’s fulfillment of God’s promises. Consider how the prophets foretold His coming, how His life displayed God’s perfect plan, and how His presence transforms our lives.
As we light the candles on the Advent wreath, symbolizing the growing light of Christ, may your heart be illuminated by the truth that the Messiah is not only the hope of Israel but the Savior of all people. This Advent, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the promised one who fulfills every longing of our hearts and every promise of God.
May this season deepen your awe for the Messiah and renew your joy in His coming.
