Sunday, December 15

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire
Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of
Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the
town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to
register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.
While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her
firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. - Luke 2:1:7
Thankfully now days we do not have to travel to register your family. Most is done
on your phone or computer. Although I did not travel a long way while pregnant
with my first child, I did with my second. Just being in a car is bad enough, I could
not imagine riding on a donkey. My trip to the hospital from our house was not
long, but the pain was not fun. My son wanted to come slow and take his time.
Once he was in my arms the pain was forgotten, and I had a bundle of joy. I’m
thankful we had a safe roof over our heads.

God created a safe place for Mary to have Jesus, and He kept them from danger. I
see the roof over my head the same way. God has provided a safe place for my
family and I. I am thankful to have the hospital to have both of my children in.
Our scripture today reveals the wonderful story of a long journey leading to Jesus’s
birth. We are on a journey for God to spread his words to all, and to see his will be
done. I thank God for my family and the gift of Jesus!
