Christmas at gloucester point
As we begin the Christmas season, we hope you will join us to worship and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ!
Advent
Advent Wreath: One of the most beautiful and meaningful traditions of the Christmas season is the lighting of the Advent candles. Each Sunday for the four Sundays before Christmas, a candle is lit. Each candle is representative a one of the promises that Scripture gives us about life as a Child of the King.
The first three candles are purple, representative of royalty welcoming the Advent of the King.
The First candle is the candle of Expectation or Hope. It draws our attention the anticipation of the coming of a Messiah.
The Second candle represents Peace.
The Third Candle is the candle of Joy.
The Fourth candle is the candle of Love.
The center candle, which is called the Christ candle, is lit on Christmas Eve.

Advent Bible school
Lottie Moon Christmas offering
Advent Bible School: There will be three nights of Advent Bible School during the 2025 Christmas season: December 3, 10, & 17 5:30 - 7:30 PM for children ages 5 years old through 5th grade. Parents who would like to take part may sit with younger children to assist them or observe while they complete their Christmas craft projects and enjoy other Advent activities. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to explore the true meaning of Christmas!

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering: Christmas is rapidly approaching and at this time of year we are called to pray for our missionaries who are spreading the Good News all over the world and support them with the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Lottie Moon – the namesake of Southern Baptists’ international missions offering – has become a legend. But in her time Lottie was anything but an untouchable hero. In fact, she was like today’s missionaries. She labored tirelessly so her people group could know Jesus. For more information on Lottie Moon see the Missions Page.
The Week of Prayer for International Missionaries is December 7 – 13

Hanging of the green

Our beautiful sanctuary is filled with the traditional decorations including wreaths, garland, poinsettias, and the Christmas tree with Chrismons.

The Chrismons were handmade by the ladies in our church many years ago and are still used today. More information on the history and meaning of the Chrismons can be found:

This beautiful beaded crown (on display in the narthex) was hand-made by Josephine Kimsey and Alice Deal to adorn the top the Chrismon Tree to remind us that Jesus Christ is King. The current crown was donated in later years by Alice Deal, since the tree in the sanctuary is much larger than the original.

Christmas doves
Christmas, Doves can be placed in memory of or in honor of a loved one. Minimum of five dollars but more is gladly accepted. The doves are placed on the Chrismon Tree and the names are included in the Christmas Bulletin.
The DUE DATE is December 17th.
